Emotional Compass
Recognize and name emotional states without automatically obeying them. Emotional Compass treats emotion as information—not a command, enemy, or verdict—so you can notice the signal and still choose your direction.
Three times this week…
- When you notice a strong emotion, pause and ask: “What am I feeling right now?”
- Ask: “What might this feeling be pointing to?”
- Ask: “What is this feeling pushing me to do?”
- Then remind yourself: “I can listen to this feeling without automatically obeying it.”
Don’t suppress it. Don’t judge it. Don’t immediately act on it. Just notice the signal.
Make it work for you
Add a cue that helps you slow down. Name the feeling with one simple word first. Ask what it may be trying to tell you. Notice the urge before acting on it. Write it down before responding, or take one breath and delay your reaction.
Why it matters
Emotions carry information, but they do not have to make the decision. A feeling can be real without every conclusion or impulse attached to it being accurate or helpful. Understanding emotion creates space between feeling and reaction.
Remember
Feelings are signals. You still choose the direction.
