Terrain Check
Recognize the conditions that shape what is realistically possible—and adapt your approach accordingly. Terrain Check helps you stop treating every difficulty as a personal failure and choose a next move that fits your reality.
Once this week…
- Choose one thing you’re struggling to do, change, or maintain. Write it down: I want to…
- Map the terrain around it: conditions, responsibilities, resources & opportunity, and social & cultural context.
- Sort the major factors using four lenses: what can you change, work around, accept, or use?
- Ask: Given the terrain I actually have, what is a reasonable next step? Choose one small action you can take this week.
Why it matters
You don’t choose all of the terrain you’re on. But understanding it helps you make better plans, stop wasting energy, and take action that fits your reality.
Remember
You don’t choose all of the terrain. You do choose how you navigate it.
