Perspective Guru

Examine a situation from more than one viewpoint. Consider other people, alternative explanations, cultural assumptions, and longer time horizons without abandoning your own judgment.

Exploration seasonOrientationPublished

Three times this week…

  1. Pause. Notice the situation and your initial viewpoint.
  2. Expand. Actively consider at least three different perspectives — another person, an alternative explanation, cultural or contextual factors, or a longer time horizon.
  3. Balance. Look for what each perspective might be missing or getting right.
  4. Choose. Keep your own judgment, updated with what you’ve learned.

Make it work for you

Ask, “What might someone else see here?” Consider at least one alternative explanation. Check for cultural or contextual factors. Zoom out to one week, one year, or ten years. Look for both benefits and risks in each perspective, then keep your own judgment — updated, not replaced.

Why it matters

A wider perspective helps you see the full picture, reduces blind spots, and supports better decisions, stronger relationships, and greater resilience.

Remember

A different perspective doesn’t mean you’re wrong. It means you’re giving yourself more information to make a better choice.
